本文首先以生猪，肉牛、肉羊和奶牛为例对近年来我国畜牧业的投入产出和成本收益状况进行了分析，然后采用battese和coelli在1992年提出的针对混合数据( paneldata )的随机边界生产函数形式，在不同地区选取一定的样本，利用样本省的时间序列与截面混合数据，对生猪，肉牛，肉羊和奶牛的增长因素进行了分析，与以往对于畜牧业增长研究不同的是，将效率测算理论引入生产增长模型，把全要素生产率分解为技术进步、技术效率和残差项，并采取了更加符合实际的超越对数函数形式，使传统上使用的索洛余值法得到改进，更深层次的剖析了我国畜牧业目前的增长方式。
